Upskilling the nation’s saviors

The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) recently announced a massive reskilling and upskilling program for the country’s one million ICT workers, with an initial target of 100,000 trainees per year.

This is truly a welcome development, that is, industry initiating a program to promote industry competitiveness by investing on the enhancement of the skills of their workers.

IBPAP and TESDA to Collaborate on Talent Development Initiatives for the IT-BPM Sector

The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) is partnering with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on several talent development initiatives to train incumbent and future workforces and develop more comprehensive industry programs.

BPAP President and CEO Rey Untal, together with TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro Lapeña, signed a memorandum of understanding in a private event on October 30 at the TESDA Complex in Taguig City.  Also present were IBPAP Vice-Chair Ayhee Campos, IBPAP Executive Director for External Affairs and Investor Relations Nicki Agcaoili, IBPAP Chief of Staff Jopat Lelay, TESDA Deputy Director-General for TESD Operations Gladys Rosales, TESDA Planning Office Executive Director Marissa Legaspi, and TESDA Certification Office Executive Director Maria Susan Dela Rama.

The next phase of the IT-BPM industry

Outsourcing firms embark on upskilling

THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry is set to pilot educational programs to reskill and upskill 1 million workers over five years to adapt to automation.

Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) President and Chief Executive Officer Rey C. Untal said in an interview on Monday that he wants the industry’s upskilling program to exceed the 100,000 per year employment growth target.
